2025 Citywide Volunteers of the Year

Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) values and promotes active engagement of the community in all our schools. The Office of Family and Community Engagement coordinates many volunteer opportunities for community members to interact and contribute to the academic achievement of our students and the overall continuous improvement of VBCPS.

2025-26 federal grant information presented to Virginia Beach School Board

The Virginia Beach School Board received information about proposed federal grant applications at its May 13 meeting. For the 2025-26 school year, Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) would receive approximately $21.6 million in formula grant funds through programs authorized under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA) as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015 (ESSA).

Auto Body and Paint Technology

Are you an artistic and creative person who loves cars? Check out Autobody and PaintTechnology , a two-year, six credit program, where you will learn many of the skills the automotive refinishing industry is seeking in qualified candidates! You will learn in a state-of-the-art lab on real equipment, and you will even have the opportunity earn the highly regarded ASE and AYES certifications!
This two-year course covers all aspects of Auto Body repair from estimating to a complete paint job. Students will learn to use hand tools as well as high tech equipment. Other competencies will include learning how to weld, straighten a frame, repair fiber-glass, use plastic filler, and mix paint on a computerized paint mixing system. Students will also become knowledgeable in Total Quality Learning Skills. Students will prepare for the following credentials or certifications: Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Technician Examinations- Non-Structural Analysis/Damage Repair, Painting & Refinishing; Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Student Certification Assessments- Painting and Refinishing, Non-Structural Analysis/Damage Repair, Structural Analysis/Damage Repair, Mechanical & Electrical Components; Safety and Pollution Prevention (SP2) Certifications- Mechanical Safety, Mechanical Pollution Prevention; and the Workplace Readiness Skills for the Commonwealth Examination.

Right now students in Auto Body are working on repairing and refurbishing privately owned vehicles and restoring several classis American cars.
As a community service, students repaint the book carts for the Virginia Beach Public Libraries at no charge along with assisting other community organizations.

All students at the Tech Center have the option to obtain an internship towards the end of their experience here.
