Automotive Service Technology

About:
This is a two-year course for the student who aspires to become an automobile technician. The program is designed to provide an in-depth study of the automobile and its operating systems, including engine repair, engine performance, electricity/electronics, brakes, steering, and suspension. Students also have the opportunity to work in the AYES program established in conjunction with local automobile repair facilities. Students will prepare for the following credentials or certifications: Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Technician Examinations- (series of 9 potential certifications); Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Student Certification Assessments- (series of 9 potential certifications); Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Safety and Pollution Prevention (SP2) Certifications- Mechanical Safety, Mechanical Pollution Prevention; and the Workplace Readiness Skills for the Commonwealth Examination.Picture of a student working on a brake job
Are you a detailed person who loves to know how things work? You will learn many of the skills the automotive industry is seeking in qualified candidates! You will learn in a state-of-the-art lab on real equipment, and you will even have the opportunity to earn the highly regarded ASE Industry Certifications, the Virginia State Inspection License, and the ASE Refrigerant Handler's Certification!
 
After the Tech Center:

All students at the Tech Center have the option to obtain an internship towards the end of their experience here.
