David Swanger, Director

A 1984 graduate of Princess Anne High School in Virginia Beach, Virginia, Mr. David Swanger takes pride in referring to himself as a product of the Virginia Beach City Public School Picture of David Swanger, Directorsystem. He received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Old Dominion University in 1989 and 2001, respectively. Mr. Swanger has worked in the Virginia Beach school division for the past 15 years. The first 11 years he taught virtually every Technology Education course offered to Virginia Beach junior and senior high school students. During those same years he also coached football, track and sponsored the Technology Student Association. Before coming to the Tech Center, he spent four years as an assistant principal at Floyd E. Kellam High School.

As Director of the Tech Center, Mr. Swanger will continue the long-standing tradition of preparing our students for the ever changing, challenging, and competitive work place, providing them with the knowledge and skills necessary to be life-long learners, and affording them every opportunity to further their education. He believes that the Tech Center provides its students with unparalleled educational experiences that fall nothing short of exemplary status. 


Ann Warren, Assistant Principal

Ms. Warren is proud to be a product of the Virginia Beach City Public Schools and graduated from Kempsville High SchPicture of Ann Warrenool in 1983. She received her undergraduate degrees from Radford University (BS in Business) and Old Dominion University (BS in Education) in 1987 and 1990, respectively. Ms. Somers completed her Master's Degree from The University of Virginia in 1998. She has worked in the Virginia Beach School Division since 1991 as a teacher, coach and assistant principal. She taught various core subjects at College Park Elementary and Brandon Middle School until 1998. Ms. Warren began her administrative career at Corporate Landing Middle School and then moved to Salem High School where she served as an Assistant Principal at both schools. Ms. Warren will continue to support the mission of the Tech Center in providing students real-world experiences, industry certifications, rigorous instruction, and personalized learning so that students will be prepared for the workforce and/or college. 

Robert Marlin, School Counselor

Mr. Marlin is a product of Virginia Beach City Public Schools as a 1990 graduate of Princess Anne High School. He earned his undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice from Old Dominion in 1995, then he earned his master's degree in school and community counseling
from Regent University in 2006. Mr. Marlin's career has been dedicated to counseling teens. His career began in the mental health setting as an outdoor wilderness counselor. He has since served as a group home counselor, case manager for Big Brother's Big Sisters, and a drug and Picture of Robert Marlin, Guidance Department Chairviolence prevention specialist. Mr. Marlin's career in the educational setting began as a student assistance counselor in Hampton Schools, 8 years as a school counselor at Salem High School, and 2 years as the guidance department chair at Frank W. Cox High School. Mr. Marlin will continue to promote and support the excellent programs, students and staff to continue the history of excellence at the Tech Center.
