Where Nursing is both an art and a science:

If you want to make a true difference in the lives of others, check out Practical Nursing, an 18-month (three HS credit program) open to high school seniors and adults, where you will learn many of the skills the health profession is seeking in qualified candidates! You will learn in a state-of-the-art lab and on-site at hospitals for real clinical experiences. At the completion of the second nine months, successful graduates of the Practical Nursing program are eligible to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination - PN, which will allow graduates to be licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse by the Virginia Board of Nursing. Students will also prepare for the Workplace Readiness Skills for the Commonwealth Examination.

Established in 1972, VBSPN offers over 40 years of experience producing top quality nurses who serve the community locally, the military and abroad. Our small class sizes ensure that each student is afforded personalized attention with hands-on instruction in our state of the art simulation lab and at various clinical facilities: Sentara Southside Hospitals, Lake Taylor Transitional Care Hospital, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, and St. Mary's Home for Disabled Children.

VBSPN is approved by the Virginia Board of Nursing, 9960 Maryland Dr. #300, Richmond, VA 23233, (804)367-4515. VBSPN maintains certification from the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) to offer LPN certification in the Commonwealth of Virginia, through the Virginia Beach City Public School System.  Further information about SCHEV certification process can be obtained via

We are accredited through Spring 2021 by Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) 3390 Peachtree Road, NE, Atlanta, GA 30326, (404)975-5000, Ext 3082.

Thank you for considering Virginia Beach School of Practical Nursing. On behalf of the Nursing Faculty and Staff, we hope that you choose VBSPN to help your nursing dreams become a reality!
